Immigrants choose to relocate to EU countries for various reasons: to get a quality education, business diversification, reunification with spouses, restoration of citizenship - but all these reasons have one thing in common - the desire for a better life and a stable future for the whole family.

Last but not least, it should be remembered that the EU legal framework is designed to protect the interests of the citizens of the union legally residing on its territory. In developed European countries, all human rights are observed, the level of crime, corruption and extremism is significantly reduced.

There are several ways to become a resident of the EU: through marriage, family ties, investment in the country's economy, or through naturalization. The last option is the longest, and is suitable mainly for those foreigners who have been living or working in the territory of another state for a long time (usually more than five years). The program also meets the needs of students who plan to stay in the chosen country after graduation, skilled workers and highly qualified specialists, who have been working under a contract for more than a year.

The most convenient option, but at the same time the most expensive one, is to obtain citizenship by investment: you do not need to live in the country for a long time, know a foreign language perfectly and understand local customs - just make an investment. However, currently this method is available only in a few states, many programs have been closed in recent years.

Anyway, if your time and finances are limited, there are other legal ways to get a European passport without a long wait. For example, repatriation: obtaining citizenship for the descendants of residents who lived in Romania, Slovenia or Bulgaria, in an expedited procedure.

Any person who proves that her or his direct relatives were born or lived before 1940 on the territory of Romania can apply for its citizenship. Descendants of residents who lived or were born in the territory of the former Yugoslavia prior to June 25, 1991 are also eligible to apply for passport renewal under the repatriation program. Repatriation implies an accelerated obtainment of Bulgarian citizenship for its former citizens as well. The belonging of a foreigner to the Bulgarians determines the presence in the family of a direct relative (father, mother, grandfather, grandmother) of Bulgarian origin.
